From Aomori to Tyo, it costs 150 usd to upgrade from F Rail pass. I worked and lived in Japan and when tourist always used JR Green class 21 days and got good value. Can use it working when arrive as tourist then change immediately to work visa. Troublesome but worth it Unbelieveable system and safety Also impressed with Chinese high speed when working there and using weekly. Safe travels and welcome back.

4L is a great seat IMO, open view of everything but tucked away. Super comfy, nobody bothers you. Evening flights are especially nice, everyone is zonked out, nice and quiet. This layout is nice if you are travelling as a family of four and have the bankroll to do it. Most useful likely for a family flying out to go skiing. Free checked baggage without any type of status/credit card perks subsidize a significant portion of costs especially if you are checking 4 bags and 4 skis, that's roughly $560 in savings right there, plus the priority security access to avoid the insane lines is worth a few bucks of your time as well.

Still one of the funnest things i've Ever done... The Zephyr about five times, Each time with one of my girls In a roomette. Most the staff is wonderful, Food is a very good. Comfort very good. late times arriving... About the biggest negative. They ran out of food once because it ran long. That kinda stunk..

If you bought tickets in advance did you buy directly from train station or a third party?

Virgin's first class coaches and service both are fantastic. I had travelled from Kings Cross to Edinburgh in their first class coach. This was way back in the summer of 2017. I was visiting from Mumbai and it was an inter-city journey through the UK over several days on the trains. Also travelled down to York from Edinburgh. The routes are scenic and the food on the train was delicious. It was an amazing experience. Definitely worth revisiting.

Hi Paul - being Irish in Manchester U.K. myself, I’m delighted to see that you got to visit and enjoy County Donegal, a beautiful part of Ireland, that along with Northern Ireland, has a strong connection with Scotland and especially the Scottish Isles - flying into Carrickfin is a much better alternative than going by coach from Dublin via Ballyshannon into Donegal Town, (a horrible 5 hours ordeal that is not recommended from my own personal experience) or from Letterkenny to Dublin - the other way to reach Donegal is to get the train from Dublin Connolly to Sligo and get a Bus Éireann/Transport for Ireland coach to Donegal Town 🇮🇪☘️🇮🇪❤️❤️❤️❤️

I had the worst experience! We travelled two times on this line. The first time on our return the cabin/couchette was double booked and we were forced to divide our family over different compartments. The second time on our return the entire train compartment was missing and we couldn't get back to the Netherlands! The OBB just shrugged and said sorry but we cant help it. THanks to some Dutch travellers we could stay in their compartment. The OBB didn't even help us with that. Terrible company. That is aside from rolling around in a too cramped space, very hard beds/couches, tiny pillows that hurt you neck, and dirty washing compartments and toilets. We're never doing this again.

I am flying LHR-HND (return) in a few months and saw that an upgrade to premium economy costs only £29 each way. After seeing many reviews, I'm not sure if there's much benefit to premium economy.

Improve the service fast. Otherwise people say *Tata* TV screens are not working . Food quality have to improve. Hard drinks at least give 2 pegs. At least we will sleep calm and avoid inconvenience in services.

Very nice video…. I’m from Albany… I lived in Ireland for 6 years…. I don’t find much difference between USA. Trains and Ireland…. Not sure how any government could justify a high speed train to somewhere as rural and sparsely populated as Vermont. The entire population of the state could fit a one London neighborhood … o do agree we should stop starting wars all over this planet and then printing billions to dole out to the “democracy” of Ukraine…. Lack of high speed “European” rail has many justified reasons… not the least of which is an inept federal government on BOTH sides…. Somehow if we could convince Lockheed Martin and Raytheon to make trains instead of missles we’d be better off….unfortunately for USA and Europe there is no money to be had in making trains…. Without MASSIVE subsidies

Paul, make sure you take the A350 first class, it’s even better than this. Or the A350 business class, which is equivalently better than the 777 business class (which is already epic).

Am considering a cross-Europe trip sometime in the next year or two. May have to travel on this service as part of it

Japan Airlines is noted for having one of “the best” International /Western cuisines in the sky in First Class. That’s a godsend for because I don’t consume any seafood whatsoever which Japanese cuisine is heavy in. 🧐

This is a great product but unfortunately I watched this video after Paul Stewarts flight on the new JAL A350 first class and whilst the service was still of an excellent standard, the A350, being a newer aircraft, just seems to be a much nicer place to be.

As bad as American airlines are they are way better than Mexican airlines, from Aeromexico to the king of the nightmare Volaris.

My husband and I have travel several times on the Empire Builder, each time in a roomette, and we have never been uncomfortable. I imagine two men over 6ft tall would be, but my husband is 6ft and I'm 5'8", and found it good. The best place to be, if not in your room, is on the observation deck. It's light, roomy, and like in your room, you can read in relative quiet, as most are just watching the scenery go by.
